My name is Jan and P90X taught me how to exercise in a way that makes losing weight fun and rewarding. The program is challenging, but it is well worth it when people start complimenting you on your weight loss. Throughout my life I was always known as the fat girl. Being fat became apart of my identity and I can honestly say that losing weight is the greatest achievement of my life. It comes before obtaining my masters degree! I supposed only another fat person can truly understand the horror and shame of obesity. I am glad to say that P90X taught me how to exercise and how to stay motivated. This is my review of P90X.

Raise Your Metabolism With Hard, Fast, and Intense Workouts:

I thank P90X for teaching me how to exercise.  Before I started watching these DVDs, I thought that taking a brisk walk around the neighborhood and eating healthy were all that was needed to lose weight, but I was obviously wrong. Tony Horton, the creator and trainer on the P90X videos explains that exercise must be hard, fast, intense, and you must have variation. The reason why exercise must be intense is because this is the only way to supercharge your metabolism.

A supercharged metabolism burns calories at a very high rate, and increases your resting metabolism. This was something I never knew. In the past I’ve been told that I had a slow metabolism, but no one really explained how to speed it up! Eating 6 small meals per day never increased my metabolism, but P90X has taught me how to exercise in a way that supercharges my metabolism. Speeding up your metabolism is the key to losing weight, and it’s the reason why all my skinny friends could eat ice cream and never gain an ounce!

What Exactly Is P90X?

P90X is 12 workouts that are designed to teach you how to exercise, how to lose weight, build lean body mass and how to supercharge your metabolism. It includes a diet plan, and a schedule that you use to chart your progress. The P90X diet plan is broken down into 3 phase that mirror the exercise program:

Phase 1: This phase is where you learn how to exercise to build your fitness foundation. The diet is a high protein diet that helps you lose weight and build muscle. At the same time the exercise program is building your strength and cardiovascular capacity.

Phase 2: This phase has you eating a little more carbohydrates because the exercise workout is now focusing on fat loss.

Phase 3: Now that you know how to exercise and eat right, the final phase is about ultimate performance. By the time you start this phase you are in great shape. You have dropped some pounds and gained muscle, so your diet changes to one that has an adequate amount of carbohydrates and lean meat. This is the diet that most people will use for the rest of their life.

One of the very best things about P90X is that it never gets boring because Tony is always showing you different types of exercises and variations.  The workouts include power yoga, calisthenics, pull ups, body weight exercises to build muscles, and fast paced aerobic workouts to lose fat.

The workouts can be a little tough if you are out of shape, but if you keep up with it you will definitely get the hang of it. I was able to go down 4 dress sizes. P90X taught me how to exercise and eat right.

I actually learned how to exercise effectively with turbo fire. Until I purchased this program, I had been losing a pound here and there- but with turbo fire I lost forty pounds in five months.  Who would have thought that little chubby Jesse Chazman would lose weight with I video.? I didn’t but I went ahead and got Charlene Johnson’s Turbo fire anyway. I figured maybe I’d give it a try.

I was spending money every few months trying to find a program that would help me keep my weight down.  I was 190lbs., standing  4’11”. with depression all over.  I couldn’t do anything without heavy breathing.  My friend had told me how much fun she had with the videos, so I figured, why not?  I ordered the videos one night during one of my ” Jesse, you need to lose weight” moments, and it came in the mail within a week. At first I was wishing something would go wrong so I’d have an excuse to send it back, but everything was there.

I started out with the slower paced exercises because I was carrying so much weight and I had to let Charlene- the workout coach teach me how to exercise. I find that unless you are partially fit already, its difficult to do the exercises that have the most impact.  I was a bit thrown back by this because I was too big to do the intense exercises. But, after I continued with the easier ones, I started to feel better and became more energetic.  After I lost a few pounds, I was able to move on to the more intense workout. That was when I really started seeing the results.

Me and Turbo fire had a kind of love hate relationship. I hated having to work my body so much, but I loved what I was getting out of it- so I kept on. I guess had I known how to exercise all along it would not have been so difficult for me.  I ended up losing forty pounds after about four months. I started eating right after about pound number ten, and the weight just kept dropping.  I love it.  And best of all, it didn’t even cost much. I had been spending money on pills and everything else that told me I could lose weight fast. Turbo charge didn’t tell me anything.  I looked at the videos and saw for myself what people were doing and I wanted to do the same. I didn’t even think I would like working out in my living room.  I didn’t have very much space, so I never thought it would work.  Learning how to exercise instead of just moving my body made the difference.  I didn’t have to be all over the place for my workout.  I just made sure I had enough room around me to do what was needed, so I wouldn’t hurt myself.

Whenever it was time for me to exercise, I knew Charlene (Johnson) would be there for me. I started feeling like she was someone I knew, because not only had she taught me how to exercise the right way, she and the others on the videos went along with me on my journey.  I never had so much fun.  I enjoyed the music because it kept my mind off of the intensity of it all.  Sometimes I felt like I was just having a good time, but believe me when I was done I felt it in my muscles. I lost my flabby arms, and a whole lot of fat off my thighs.  I would really recommend this video because months ago nobody could have said “Jesse go buy a workout video and learn how to workout the right way”, because I already thought I knew how. It wasn’t until I used turbo fire and started losing all the stubborn weight- like my flabby arms, that I knew I had finally learned how to exercise.

My name is Mike and this post is about how I used the Insanity workout program to lose 30lbs:

We all want to have well toned bodies that other people will admire, but many of us do not know how to exercise properly. This is my review of Beach Body’s Insanity workout video. The Insanity workout video by Shaun T promises that it will give you the sexy body that you want. For men this means having a muscular body with low body fat, and for women this means a well toned body with low body fat.

The Problem:

I’ve been fat all my life and I’ve tried every diet, every workout pill, and every exercise video known to man. In this weight loss odyssey of mine, I have had short-term success at losing weight, but I could never stick to any workout program long enough to really derive any long term benefits. My failure to stick to a diet and exercise plan is the route of my problem. I also really didn’t understand how to exercise until I got the Insanity workout video by Beach Body. Before I started working out with Shaun T (the exercise instructor on the Insanity videos), I would try to walk for 2 hours per day, but I would always miss workouts, and would eventually altogether quit exercising. I really didn’t know how to exercise. On paper those 2 hour workouts look really great because I calculated that I could burn 1000 calories per day, but as mentioned it was unrealistic to believe that I could stick with it.

The Solution:

As mentioned before, I always had unrealistic expectations when it came to exercising. I really didn’t know how to exercise for permanent weight loss. I would try to do 2 hour workouts everyday and would always fizzle out after 2 or 3 weeks. A big epiphany came when I purchased and started watching Shaun T’s Insanity by Beach Body workout videos. One of the first things that Shaun T says is the key to losing weight is to build muscles and by doing high intensity workouts that would speed up the metabolism. This was a big departure from the 2 hour workouts that I was doing. Shaun T mentions that long slow workouts do help you lose weight, but they do not speed up your metabolism. This is how to exercise to keep the pounds off. The insanity videos state that increasing our metabolism is the key to long term weight loss. Have you ever wondered why a skinny person is able to eat all day and never get fat? They are able to do so because they have a fast metabolism, their body burns calories at a faster rate, and even at rest they are able to burn a lot of calories. Insanity is designed to help regular people speed up their metabolism, so that they can get these same benefits.

The Workout:

Get ready to get your butt kicked! I started doing Insanity by Beach Body when I was in the absolute worst shape of my life, and I was huffing and puffing. I immediately knew this was how to exercise for quick weight loss. Shaun has you do a lot of aerobic style and body weight exercises at an insanely fast and intense pace. He does this to get your heart pumping, and to make you burn calories at a faster pace.

One Complaint About Insanity:  The workouts might be a little to intense for some people, and they might get discouraged. Although, this can be overcome by doing the exercises at a slower pace or going all out and taking plenty of breaks.

The Results:

After 3 months of doing Insanity, I am now 30lbs lighter, my blood pressure is no longer high, I feel great, and I now know how to exercise.
